Martin Ingrisch
came to American on 14 May 1906, last residence Mehala/Temeswar.
Traveling
with Martin was his sister in law, Suzanne Marmon
& her
baby Marie. Suzanne was the wife of Anton
Marmon, brother of Martin's wife Elisabeth
Marmon. Baby Marie died soon after
arriving. There is no
info known about Susanne, except on her
death
certificate it states her father as Mihaly Kedro??/
Hedro? - the spelling is not clear on the
document.
Martin
was joining his brother-in-law
Michael
Schick in Atlanta.
I am
still searching for this person. On Anton
Marmon's manifest, it stated he too was
joining 'brother in law
Michael
Schick'
in Atlanta.' I located a passenger record for
Nandor
(Ferdinand)
Schick,
who joined his brother Michael
Schick in Atlanta. I have yet to located these two
men or learn anything of there connect to the Ingrisch
or Marmon families.
What does the
Marmon name mean?
Possibly an altered spelling of French Marmont, a habitational name from
Marmont-Pachas (Lot-et-Garonne) or Marmont (Ain), orignially meaning ‘bad or
evil hill’.
