Karlsbad

REGION: The region Karlsbad, czech Karlovarský kraj, is one of the 14 regions in the Czech Republic. The region after the Liberec region is the smallest part of the country's western borders and to be Saxony in the north to Bavaria in the west, and to the Czech regions in the south of Pilsen and Usti nad Labem in the east. Administrative headquarters of the region is the eponymous Karlsbad (Karlovy Vary).

The region is home to the famous Karlsbad Spas Karlsbad (Karlovy Vary), Marienbad (Mariánské Lázně) and Franzensbad (Františkovy Lázně). Other major cities are Eger (Cheb), Sokolov (Sokolov).

Carlsbad or Karlsbad is a German placename meaning "Charles's spa."
