Finding Descendants of the Unterweger Family 

Starting with the only one lead I had, Christina Ingrisch was born 3.04.1871 in Mercifalva, Hungary.  She died in Pancota Village on 26.02.1951.  I then derived she was married to an Unterweger and lived in Mercydorf in house # 8 [1931-32].  Checked the Mercydorf Passenger records and below are the findings.

Just a note/not related to this case: Next in line from Fibis is Mojsze, Heurik; Mojsze, Heurikne & Mojsze, Katalin - joining Uncle Lorencz Zimmermann - going to Mansfield Ohio.

Comments: Born in Mercydorf. Wife, Kristina Unterweger, lives in Mercydorf. Going to join son Mihal (Michael) Unterweger at 324 E. 125th St, NYNY.  Was Previously lived in NY 1906-1908. 

(Traveling with Michael Mayer, his wife Katharine Mayer is in Mercydorf - joining his son John Mayer at 235 E 81st St., NYNY. Prev US 1905-09.)

Note: just above Jacob's entry is Frey, Janos & Frey, Rosina  from Mercydorf who is joining Nicolaus Honig (Honich?) at 437 E 41st St., NY.

I checked US Census and the Social Security Index and nothing was listed for Jacob, so I knew I had to search for the son who came to America with him.... Michael Unterweger b. 1981.

Search & Discovery ~ Contacting the Unterweger Family

I located Peter Unterwegers' wife Karen on the internet and sent an email.  I was happy to hear back from her and she confirmed I had the right family.  Pete's Great Grandmother was Christina Ingrisch, married to Jacob.  I asked if she had a photo of Christina she could share with me, yes she did.  When I received the photo via email, I about fell out of my chair!  Then I just stared at it, knowing this woman's face was familiar.  I got out a photo we had in our family for a long time but we did not know who the people were.  It was the same woman and the dress she is wearing looked almost identical, see below.
