Subject: 1828 CENSUS

Hi Jody,       What a day!!!!!
I finally received a reply from Beth Long ----- Temesvar had its own
census taken that is why it is not in the county book.  I did receive many
requests for look ups.
    In Mehala I found :
 Marmon Jakob - House # 453                                Page 148
 Marmon Johan - House # 454
Marmon Peter  - House # 459    LDS Film # for these three #623,133

In Fibis ( Fibisch) I found:
 Marmon Joanes - House # 101   LDS Film # 623,130

In Merrzsidorf ( Mercydorf) I found:
Ingris Joanes   House #139        LDS Film # 623,133
  Schuck Joseph  House # 302       "      "        "      "

I thought I would list these other spellings, they could be your people.

My mother Klara Kuppis is from Shag -Temes County & My father Jozsef Deak
is from Magyar Szente Marton  Torontal County.
I do hope this helps your research.

  Bill
Surnames Deak, Kuppis, Virag, Draga, Bodnar and Fodor.

Marmon’s from Fibis [in Masloc KB’s].

Fibis [founded before 1446 [possibly in 1380]/known as Fyüves]

Village Names: German: Fibisch/ Romanian: Fibis/ Hungarian: Temesfüres/ Variants: Fiwisch; Fibes on 1761 map of Banat.

Location: in Timis County/Romania, at 30 km NE of Timisoara.

The church was build in 1856 and was established in the honor of Nativitatem B.M.V. by the inhabitants.

Genealogical Records:

Fibis was always a filial parish of Blumenthal / Masloc

Church records at FHL for Masloc: see Blumenthal [founded in 1770]

Village name at FHL: Blumenthal, Maslak [microfilm no. 0858417, 0858426]

Church records at FHL: B 1771-1848, M 1771-1858, D 1771-1848

Church records at National Archive in Timisoara:

B 1771-1905

M 1771-1897

D 1771-1895; Missing D 1822-1847 [one KB’s]

Church build in 1788 and was established in the honor of S. Bartholomaeum.

Starting 1895 civil registration on site.

The conclusion is that there is no direct prove yet that the Marmon’s from Fibis are linked directly with the Mehala’s Marmon’s. We did not find any trace of the Mehala’s Marmon’s in the Masloc KB’s.

The Marmon’s –Georg & Elisabetha with several children- settled in Fibis around 1803-1804 from an unknown location. The first ge in which they are involved is:

·        B 13.11.1804, JACOB, so GEORGIUS MAURMANN & ELISABETHA, PNCC JACOB MAJER, ELISABETHA his wife

·        D 1.03.1807, GEORGIUS MARMANN, 5y[B~1802], patria: FIBISCH [MC: but he was not B/C in FIBIS/MASLOC ~1802]

·        B 8.06.1807, JOANNES, so JOANNES [MC: the full name of the father was Joannes Georgius OR the priest did a mistake OR we have another Marmon couple here? I suspect that the last possibility is the good one because in 1819 a Joannes, so of Georgius will M in Fibis] MARMON & ELISABETHA IERGERin/IERGENin [MC: is she the do Mathias & Elisabetha? But she was not B in Fibis], PNCC JACOB MAJER, ELISABETHA, his wife

MC: between 1807-1815 no other ge –B/C, M, D- in which the Marmon’s are involved [but I did not checked the godparents and the witness at M] was found in Fibis.

·        B 12.07.1816, KATALIN, do GEORG MARMON & ELISABETHA

·        B 13.12.1819, BARBARA, do GEORG MARMANN & ELISABETHA [MC: their last child in Fibis; from here we can presume that the parents were >40y old; so, B~1780 and M~1800]

There are other children of this couple who will M in Fibis and we suspect that are the children of the same couple Georg & Elisabetha B in another village:

·        M 7.02.1819, Masloc Parish

-JOANNES, so GEORGII MARMAN & ELISABETHA, coelebs from FIBIS

-MARGARETHA, do GEORG HERR & MARGARETHA, coelebs from FIBIS

TNCC ANTON BERGMANN, IGNATIUS ALTENBACH

·        M 29.01.1828

-FRIDERICUS EBENSBERGER, juvenis

-IULIANNA MARMON, virgo

TNCC FRIEDRIC EISELE, ANTON LUMP

MC: because this Fridericus Ebensberger will re-M~1848 with Eva Helfrich [B~1825/28.07.1821 in Neudorf (bei Lippa) as do Peter Joannes Helferich/Hellferich/Helfferich & Susanna Kirchner; D 26.05.1851, Fibis at 26y], I suspect that Iulianna D<1848 in Fibis. Unfortunately, the period 1821-1848 for D is not covered in the Romanian archives due a missing record. BUT this period is covered by the Masloc FHL microfilm [so, search there for Iuliana’s D date and place of origin is more than needed].

Because:

·        M2. 31.05.1830

-GEORGIUS RUPPMICH, viduus

-ELISABETHA MARMON vidua

I suspect that Georgius Marmon D<1830 [but >1828 when is listed in the 1828 Land Census as Gyurka/the Hungarian form for the Latin Georgius/ living in H 24] and a search for this ge in the FHL microfilm is more then needed [for Georgius’s exact D date, age and place of origin].

Other children:

·        M 29.01.1828

-JOSEPHUS MARMON, iuvenis

-ANNA LINDNER, virgo

both from FIBIS

TNCC ANDREA VRANIS, JOANNES MANSFELD

·        D 23.11.1862, JOSEPHUS MARMON, 53y[B~1809], from GLOGOVACZ [MC: this is German: Glogowatz/ Romanian: Vladimirescu, Glogovãt/ Hungarian: Othalom/ Variants: Glogowitz, Glogovatz. Location: in Arad County, Romania, at 4 km E of Arad City; Village name at FHL: Glogovatz, Othalom [microfilm no. 1190291, 1190292]; Church records at FHL: B 1770-1835, M 1770-1835, D 1770-1835], living in H 71 FIBIS, agricola, maritus MARIA ANNA LINTNER, M for 35y

MC: as you can see, Georg & Elisabetha did not had any children in Fibis between 1808-1816; so, a search in FHL’s Glogovatz microfilms for more details is more than needed.

·        D 27.12.1857, JACOB MARMON, agricola, maritus CATHARINA HELFERT, M for 10y[M~1847], 53y[B~1804] originally from FIBIS, living in H 243 Fibis, communis/common cause of D

·        M2. 24.08.1847, in ZABRANI [ie Guttenbrunn]

-JAKOB MARMON, widow from FIBIS

-KATHARINA HELFERT, B 14.03.1825 in ZABRANI, do GEORG & ELISABETHA STIEKEL

·        M 20.11.1831

-LEOPOLDUS NIEDBAMMER, coel.

-CATHARINA MARMONN, coel.

·        M 15.11.1836

-TIMPEL FERENCZ, 24y, coeleb

-MARMON BORBÁLA, 17y[B~1819], originally from FIBIS, living in FIBIS

·        M 29.01.1839

-SCHIFF ISTVÁN, 18y, coeleb from FIBIS

-MARMON BORBALA, 19y[B~1820], hajadon from FIBIS

MC: which is the daughter of Georg B on 13.12.1819? Because we have 2 Barbara, I think that we have also 2 Marmon couples at the beginning of XIX Century.

Other ge:

·        M2. 15.10.1829

-ANTON HACKSBACHER, coelebs from CHARLOTTENBURG

-MARGARETHA MARMON vidua [MC: so, Margaretha NN, widow after Marmon] from FIBIS

TNCC GEORG JÄGER, JACOB MARMON

I did not find this NN Marmon male D in Fibis due the missing record D 1821-1848. Search in FHL microfilm for the D date/age/etc for this NN Marmon.

I did search for another clues [mainly in the Masloc D records up to 1871] but no other important ge were found.

I did search also in the FB for:
-Neudorf bei Lippa

-Lippa

-Guttenbrunn

-Engelsbrunn

-Schondorf

-Saderlach

-Pischia

-Giarmata

for the trace of the Marmon’s [unfortunately, without any success].
