Donauschwaben Family Reunion - 2004

Reunion with cousins who left Romania in the late 1980's and now live in Germany....

 How We Connected

     I connected with Werner Ingrisch and wife Lizzie (geb. Schultz) through Alex Leeb, who is from Knees, the same village Lizzie is from.  Axente Formann (Mehala, Timisoara) and wife Renate found my family website and contacted me.  Unbelievable, after all these years of separation we are connected.  And what was more amazing is Axente and Werner both live in Ingolstadt, Germany, but had no prior knowledge of one another until after Axente contacted me.  After months of corresponding we planned our trip to Germany.  Werner and Lizzie graciously opened their home for me to stay.  Werner, Lizzie, Axente and Renate took time off from work that week to spend with us.  We all traveled to Ulm to attend the Donauschwaben Treffen and stayed at the Inter City Hotel.

Louise and I have been corresponding for about a year but met for the first time on our trip together to Romania.  We  share a common interest in Mercydorf.  Louise resides in Orange, Ca.

MOVING ON.....We followed the parade... at a certain point everyone gathered, awaiting the Mayor of Ulm to address to attendees.  We waited a very long time, until we were told he was socializing with the Festivity performers, while they ate.  We were more than happy to wait as we were lucky to get a table at an outdoor cafe and enjoyed a cup of cappuccino.
