What a great website! I found it through your messageboard message on

I too have ancestors from the Banat -- in fact some are Martins from
Lenauheim (actually Csatad-Lenauheim is the way I've found it written.)
My great-great grandfather was Filip Martin, born 22 Dec. 1833 in Csadat-Lenauheim.
He then moved to Kleinbetschkerek/Banat, where he married twice and had
a total of fourteen children, only three of whom lived to marry and have
children of their own. I found them in the family listings at the
Kleinbetschkerek website: www.kleinbetschkerek.de.
Congratulations to you -- this is a wonderful resource for your
relatives and fascinating even to those of us who are not related.

Such a wonderful story I could cry. I am happy for you to find so many
interesting things still in existence.
If my children would visit our hometown in the Batschka, they could not
find any cemetery, nor church. Our houses still stand.
I can understand that you want to visit the places your ancestors
walked.
Just wrote you a letter and it was returned since you changed your
address.

Your words about romania are not very nice, I can understand this, but I
want to tell you something, I visit USA (for 2 months, not only couple
of days) and I was very dissapointed (very cold people, reserved and
many of them racist with ideas like "USA should close the border and not
allow anybody to come in" and no friends). I visit many countrys, but
the only country in the world where a person tried to attack me in the
middle of the day in down town it was USA (Dallas), and belive me I'm
not a small guy. The USA was the dream of every romanian before 1989, my
one also, but after visiting USA I start beeing pround that I have been
born and grow up in Banat (Romania).
What I hope is taht people who are searching for them ancestors will
understand something from what they will see and will try to stop people
like Bush killing inocent peoples in country like Yugoslavia, Irak and
any other places in the world. I'm still afraid that in the place of
Irak or ex-Yugoslavia, suner or later USA will chose Romania as a public
enemy. :(

Thanks for putting this on the web....When I was a boy I looked forward
to visiting Aunt Minnie and Uncle Cleve in their store you mentioned on
the first page. Aunt Minnie was one of my mother's sisters and we came
down from Chattanooga every summer. I remember Virginia Voss Pope when
she was very young; glad the old store is still being taken care of.
Thanks for bringing back fond memories of the 1940s.

To all the Ingrisch/Mormon relatives: We thoroughly enjoyed the 2006
reunion, since we missed 2005....It was wonderful to meet all our German
family. Margaret Engrisch Stephens (Bobby's mother) actually lost her
connection with the Mormon side of the family when her mother died after
giving birth to her. She was raised by her oldest sister, Lizzie
Engrisch Ogle, and leaned more towards the Engrisch side of the
family....It was so good to see the Mormon side of the family!
