Frank Ingrisch & Anna Taubert
Researched & Compiled by

Frank Ingrisch b. 14 Feb 1862 - d.
02-Sep-1936 at age 74, Queens, NY.
Parents: Frank Ingrisch & Elizabeth
Roser of Hungary.
[dob verified with church record, b. Mercydorf, house # 12,
Godparents Mihaly Peter & Katalin Ingrisch]
Anna Taubert d. 13 Aug 1928
at age 68 [est yob: 1860], College Point, NY.
Parents: Frank Taubert & Catherine Wuertz.
The Frank & Anna Ingrisch Family became of
interest to me shortly after I started my genealogy. It's sort of a
long story but I will try to condense it. In the year 2000, there were
only a few listings for the name Ingrisch at Ancestry.com. I was very
curious about these people I located in the Social Security Index, that
I had never heard of. One being Rudolph Ingrisch who had lived in NY
but died in Florida. After extensive researching through Florida
records I located his daughter. I called her and I am sure she was
surprised to hear from me, a woman in Ga., asking her all kinds of
questions. We began exchanging emails and information about our
families.
According the daughter of Rudolph Ingrisch, son of
Martin Ingrisch. Martin Ingrisch was born 10 Nov 1882 in Temeswar,
Hungary and his parents were Frank and Anna Ingrisch. Martin also had a
brother Michael, who also came to America. She was always told that
Frank and Anna Ingrisch never came to America.
After a thorough investigation I believe Frank and
Anna did come to America, based on tedious analyzing of passenger
records, US census reports, marriage and death records. You will see in
the passenger records, the Frank & Anna Ingrisch family, [which includes
Martin and Michael] are on a 1899 manifest coming to America [note the
line crossed over their names and a notation at the end of the line,
indicates they were moved to a different class cabin. You will also see
a passenger record in 1902 for Martin and Michael who came to American
and were joining their father "Frank Ingrisch" in NY. I believe in 1899
Frank and Anna did come to America and as research indicates he and Anna
both died in America, but not before Frank remarried 2 more times.
Ingrisch Frank 1862, wife: Anna 1862, kids: Marton 1881, Michael 1887,
Maria 1890, Elisabeth 1892, Christine 1886

A must read:
On the above manifest, there are for the passenger record of Franz
Ingris (INGRISCH) and family, there is a line crossed through their
names, typically means they did not not make the voyage, unless
there is annotated comments. Note: The person above them also has a
line and just to the side of his name it is written "Over II So
Cabin" - looks like the Ingris family were transferred to a a 2nd
class cabin. Please see explanations:
Movements between
Steerage, First, and Second Class Cabin. Some immigrants
changed their class of ticket either just before departure
or once underway, much like airline passengers today might
"upgrade" to first class just before the flight departs. If
the change came at the last minute or once the ship sailed,
it was too late to be recorded in the final draft of the
passenger list. As a result, pursers annotated lists to show
the change. The example at right, found in the name column,
indicates the passenger "transferred to Third Class." The
example below explains that the passenger's Steerage list
record is lined out because he transferred to Second Class.
|
|
|
Often, when a
passenger moved between classes in this manner, the result
is two records of the same person on the same ship--one
record on the list as originally booked, and another on the
list of the class in which the immigrant arrived. The same
could happen when an immigrant for some reason "missed the
boat" upon which he was booked and took the next ship
instead. In those cases, he may appear to arrive twice, on
ships arriving one after each other. If last minute changes
could cause one immigrant to be listed twice, it is
reasonable to assume the same situation might also cause an
immigrant to fall through the cracks and not be listed at
all.
