Anton Marmon
16 Aug 1880 - 8 Feb 1956

Mehala, Banat, Temes County, Hungary
to Atlanta, Georgia, America

by Jody McKim

Anton was the brother of my Great Grandmother Elisabeth Marmon Ingrisch. He was born 16 August 1880 in Mehala, a suburb of Temeschburg, Hungary.  Today, Mehala is a part of Timisoara, Timis County, Romania.  Anton immigrated to America 16 March 1906, under the name Antal Marman, he was joining his brother-in-law Mihaly Schik, 12 Butler St., Atlanta, Ga.

Anton's first wife Susanne, immigrated to America May 14, 1906, under the name Zussanna Harmon at the age of 23 - (the actual manifest reads Marmon).  With her was their 2 month old baby, Maria Harmon, (estimated dob, mid March, 1906). [both were in Ships Hospital].  Susanna was joining her husband Antal (Anthony) Marmon c/o Mihaly Schick, 12 Butler St., Atlanta, Ga. Traveling with Brother-in-law Marton Ingrisch (my Great Grandfather).

On the 1910 US Federal Census, Anton at age 29 is shown with wife Susanne, age 26.  At that time they were married 5 years (that would put their marriage about 1905, the year before Anton immigrated).  Children listed were Albert 2 and Catherine 1 1/2 . He was a cabinet maker for George Muller.  Child Maria was not listed, she apparently died between 16 May 1906 and 1910.

Susanne died 26 MAY 1913, at age 30, in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia.  Immaculate Conception, Greenberg & Bond Co. Chapel, she is buried at West View. To the right is the actual death certificate Frank & Beverly obtained.  Below is a snippet of Susanne's father's name, which we are still unsure of the spelling.
