Cincinnati, April 4-(AP)-Seven of the eight 1933 titles in Ohio district A.
A. U. boxing rested today with fighters of the metropolitan Cincinnati area.
Only one outsider-Joe Toormino, Akron-emerged a victor last night in the
annual amateur championships here. Toormino won the flyweight title by a
decision over George Scheyer of Cincinnati after defeating Frankey Katzler
of Cincinnati, in the semi-finals.
The other winners in the bouts, which were for three rounds:
Banatamweight, Earl Stephebs; decision over Alvin Shough, Springfield.
Featherweight, Bobby Lee, decision over Tony Mastrullo, Cincinnati.
Lightweight, Johnny Brown, decision over Tommy Jackson, Cincinnati.
Welterweight, Dan Milillo; technical knockout in second round over Joe
Smith, Arkon. Middleweight, Al Saunders; technical knockout in second
round over Harry Koenig, Cincinnati. Light-heavyweight, Ceton Van
Meter, Newport, Ky; decision over Ray Achibald, Cincinnati.
Heavyweight, Mose Howe; default from Joe Hartman, Cincinnati. Smith of
Arkon knocked out Nick Pastura, Cincinnati, in the second round to advance
to the finals. Tom Gallgan, Piqua, welterweight, lost to Milillo on a
technical knockout in the third round in the semi-finals, and Virgil Brown,
Piqua lightweight, lost a decision to Johnny Brown of Cincinnati.
